Eagles down Cornell College in NACC play

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Edgewood College men's lacrosse team earned their third conference win of the season at Cornell College on Wednesday evening. The Eagles downed the Rams 14-6. Hat tricks from Maddux Ptasienski and Brady Hunn highlighted a strong Eagle attack on Wednesday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (4-9, 3-6 NACC) and Cornell College (5-9, 2-7 NACC) were tied at two goals apiece after the first quarter on Wednesday night. The Rams took an early 2-0 lead, before the Eagles scored two man-up goals to tie the contest.

- The Eagles recorded a whopping five goals in the second quarter and held the Rams scoreless before halftime. Brady Hunn netted the Eagles first goal of the second quarter, assisted by Tyler Stockwell. Nick Orosco, Lake Rewey, and Maddux Ptasienski also contributed to the Eagles scoring efforts in the second quarter. Four of the Eagles goals were assisted in the quarter.

- Two goals out of the break gave the Eagles an 8-2 lead with 12:14 remaining in the third quarter.

- The Eagles added another five goals in the final quarter to take home the conference victory.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Ptasienski and Hunn both recorded hat tricks for the Eagles.

- Rewey dished out two assists and scored twice.

- James Borgardt dished out a team-high three assists and scored once.

- Sean Callen went 6-for-16 on the faceoff.

- CJ Mandile caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls.

- Logan Searles recorded 13 saves in net for the Eagles.

THE OPPOSITION
- Tyler Foster recorded three goals for the Rams.

- Torii Greiskalns caused seven turnovers and picked up 13 ground balls.

- Ash Hoelscher went 12-for-17 on the faceoff for Cornell College and picked up six ground balls.

- Thomas Cook recorded 16 saves in net for the Rams.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will host Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday, April 19. The Eagles will celebrate the senior class prior to the contest at 3:30 p.m.
