CAROL STREAM, ILL. – Baseball wrapped up their road trip Saturday down in Illinois. They took on the Wheaton Thunder in a nonconference doubleheader. The Thunder (11-17) got the best of the Eagles (13-13) in a 11-6 game one. In game two, Edgewood College rallied late for a 15-14 victory.
GAME ONE: WHEATON 11, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 6
- The Eagles hit the board early. A
Jacob Carney single up the middle plated a run in the first innings.
Mac Vesperman singled through the right side for an RBI in the second, while a
Carter Kelley groundout sent another home for a 3-0 lead after two.
- A two RBI single to center field in the fourth helped the Thunder keep pace with Edgewood College before a big six inning.
Brevin Brisack hit a two-run home run to left center in the top of the frame. Wheaton replied with a two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the frame. The Thunder took full advantage of an error with two outs, batting in five more runs including another two-run home run for a 9-5 lead.
- A pair of RBI singles in the seventh tacked on insurance for Wheaton. Brisack added another RBI with a sacrifice fly in the eighth, but it would not be enough as the Thunder claimed victory.
- Three Wheaton batters had three hits. Will Clegg hit 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBIs, a home run, and a double.
- Jared Kloth earned the victory for the Thunder, pitching eight innings with four strikeouts and four earned runs allowed.

Hayden Hellenbrand hit 2-for-4 with two runs.
GAME TWO: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 15, WHEATON 14
- The bats were quiet until the fifth inning. A Thunder double to left field in the first accounted for the lone run either team scored in the first four innings.

Terry Tolliver Jr. kicked off a six-run fifth for the Eagles with a two-run homer to right field.
Daniel Bentivegna hit a two-RBI single to center field, while
Carson Richter made it 6-1 Edgewood College with a single to left.
- Wheaton answered with six runs in the bottom of the fifth, five coming with two outs including a three-RBI triple. The Eagles pulled back ahead 10-7 in the sixth. Carney sent one in with a sacrifice fly, while
Kyle Prindle plated a pair with a single to left field. Bentivegna brought home Prindle with a double to right center.
- The Thunder rumbled back with a seven-run sixth inning. They recorded four runs before one out, including a two-RBI single through the right side. Another two-RBI single would wrap up the scoring in the inning as Wheaton led 14-10.
- A pair of runs in the seventh helped Edgewood College stay on the Thunder's heels. A
Dominic Lee double to right center and a Carney single to center field cut the deficit to 14-12. The Eagles would continue to claw back in the eighth,
Aidan Kammer batting in a run with a single up the middle while a wild pitch scored
Jacob Minnear to even things after eight.
- After Prindle reached third thanks to a walk, a wild pitch, and a passed ball, a Bentivegna double to right sent him home for the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth.
Mark Tor stepped up for the save in the ninth, taking down three batters in order for the victory.
- Bentivegna hit 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs. Five Edgewood College batters posted two or more hits.
- Hellenbrand, Prindle, and Lee each accounted for three runs. Hellenbrand added two doubles and two stolen bases.

George Gouriotis earned the win, while Tor recorded the save.
- Jack Gill hit 4-for-6 with two RBIs and a double. Five Wheaton players had two hits.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Prindle reached 100 career runs in the second game of the doubleheader.
- Tor recorded his fifth save in game two, tied for second-most all time on the season and career record books.

Edgewood College will return to Stampfl Field Tuesday for a NACC showdown. They'll face off with MSOE for a Veteran's Appreciation Day doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
