Game Recap: Baseball |

Eagles shut down Falcons, earn NACC sweep

MEQUON, WIS. – Baseball continued their road trip Friday with a key NACC showdown. They faced off with the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons in a doubleheader. After a hard-fought 4-3 game one victory, the Eagles (12-12, 7-5 NACC) completed the sweep with a 9-1 victory against the Falcons (13-12, 5-7).

GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 4, CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 3
- The Eagles hit the board early with a three-run first. A Jacob Carney double to left center plated a run, while a Kyle Prindle single through the right side and a Daniel Bentivegna grounder to short each tacked on a run. A Falcon double in the bottom of the frame left things 3-1 after 1.

- After a wild pitch brought a runner home for Concordia Wisconsin in the third, a single to left center evened the score 3-3 for the hosts. A double play would cut short the threat as the Edgewood College pitching staff locked in.

- The combination of Cole Pulliam and Mark Tor held the Falcons scoreless for the remaining five innings. The Eagles found their opportunity n the seventh, a Brevin Brisack single down the right field line ending up as the winning run.

- Pulliam pitched four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out a pair to earn the victory. Tor fanned four in two scoreless innings to tally the save.

- Ryan Mixey pitched well in the start, striking out five in three innings.

- Terry Tolliver Jr. hit 2-for-4 with two runs and three stolen bases.

- Brisack hit 3-for-4 with an RBI. Carney hit 2-for-3 with a run, a RBI, and a double.

GAME TWO: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 9, CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 1
- Aidan Williams settled in for a pitcher's duel through the early innings, but after Dominic Lee broke through with an RBI double to left center in the fifth the Eagles broke game two wide open in the sixth.

- A pair of early mistakes from the Falcons helped another runner cross home early in the sixth for Edgewood College. Brisack singled in another run to right field, before a sacrifice bunt from Daniel Bentivegna made it 4-0. The Eagles continued to bat through the order, a Lee single to right center adding one and an Aidan Kammer double to left center scoring a pair. Tolliver Jr. would wrap up a seven-run sixth with an RBI single through the right side.

- Edgewood College would trade a Dominic Lee sacrifice fly for a RBI single from Concordia Wisconsin in the seventh to wrap up the scoring as the Eagles clinched the sweep.

- Williams pitched eight innings, striking out five and allowing no earned runs in the victory.

- Five Edgewood College batters had two hits. Lee recorded three RBIs and a double, while Kammer had two RBIs and a double.

- Prindle hit a triple and accounted for a pair of runs. Brisack hit 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
