VERONA, WIS. – Baseball opened Stampfl Field for the 2025 season Wednesday as they continued NACC action. They squared off with the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors in a doubleheader. The Eagles (6-9, 2-2 NACC) struck first with a 12-2 seven inning victory, but the Warriors (5-10, 2-2) answered with a 12-4 win in game two.
GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 12, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 2 (7 INNINGS)
- The Eagles struck with a five-run first inning.
Jacob Carney kicked off the scoring with a RBI single through the right side.
Kyle Prindle followed up with a home run to right center to plate a pair. Edgewood College kept the pressure on, loading up the bases. A
Carson Richter walk and a
Hayden Hellenbrand fielder's choice each tallied a run for a 5-0 edge.
- After the Warriors sent in a runner with a single to right center in the second, the Eagle offense got to work in the third. Hellenbrand brought home a runner to kick things off, before a
Terry Tolliver Jr. single through the right side battled in two. Prindle left things 9-1 after three with an RBI double through the right side.

Brevin Brisack doubled to right field to tack on another run in the fifth, while Tolliver Jr. added key insurance runs with a two-run home run to right center in the sixth. The Warriors would score one with a double down the left field line in the seventh, but were unable to avoid the run rule defeat.
- Tolliver Jr. hit 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a walk. Carney and Prindle also hit 3-for-4.
- Mixey shined in the start, tossing six innings with nine strikeouts and one run allowed.
GAME TWO: WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 12, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 4
- A solo home run to center field kicked off the scoring for the Warriors in the first. A
Mac Vesperman sacrifice fly to center and a
Ryan Ambrosy double down the right field line in the second would have the Eagles holding a 2-1 edge after two.
- The squads continued to match blow for blow in the third and fourth. A double to right center and a sacrifice fly to right field in the third put Wisconsin Lutheran temporarily ahead 3-2. Edgewood College answered with an Ambrosy RBI and a Hellenbrand single to center field in the fourth to claim a 4-3 edge.
- The Warriors began to take over the game as the Eagles struggled with Shevey on the mound. Home runs in the fifth and sixth inning pushed Wisconsin Lutheran ahead 6-4. As Edgewood College was held scoreless for the remaining innings, the Warriors piled on six more runs to earn a doubleheader split.
- Shevey pitched a complete game for Wisconsin Lutheran. He fanned six Eagles, allowed two earned runs, and didn't walk a single batter in 133 pitches.
- Hellenbrand and Richter each hit 2-for-4.
- Ratliff hit 4-for-6 with two home runs and a double as the centerpiece of a strong Warriors lineup in game two.

Edgewood College will return to action for Cutting Edge Program Day Saturday. They'll take on the Rockford Regents in another NACC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for noon in Verona, Wis.
