Eagles fall to Falcons in non-conference battle

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's lacrosse team traveled to River Falls for non-conference action on Monday evening. The Eagles fell to the Falcons by a final score of 16-7. Emma Raupp scored four goals for the Eagles in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (1-5) scored first on Monday evening, as Raupp connected on an assist from Rachel Unitan in the first minute. UW-River Falls (6-2) responded with three-straight goals to take a 3-1 lead with nine minutes remaining in the first quarter. Raupp and Madelyn Kilday scored to tie the game a three apiece. The Eagle pair taking advantage of player-up situations to give the Eagles life.

- Kylah Link scored for the Falcons in the final seconds of the first quarter to give UW-River Falls a 4-3 advantage going into the second quarter.

- The Falcons held the Eagles scoreless in the second quarter and tacked on four goals to take an 8-3 lead at halftime.

- Raupp scored first for the Eagles out of the break to reduce the Falcons lead to just four goals.

- UW-River Falls scored three more in the third quarter to reach the 10 goal mark and lead 11-4 going into the final quarter.

- Christina Eloe and Tatyana Ryan added to the Eagles scoring efforts in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to put a dent in the Falcons advantage. UW-River Falls continued to dominate offensively, scoring five goals in the final 15 minutes.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Raupp led the Eagles with four goals.

- Unitan dished out a game-high four assists.

- Eloe collected five raw controls.

- Lauryn Brown collected five caused turnovers.

- Zoee Pond collected 11 saves.

THE OPPOSITION
- Samantha Hayek recorded three goals and three assists for the Falcons.

- Brooke Glumack added three goals and two assists.

- Kylah Link and Murphi Specht led the Eagles in draw controls, with four and five, respectively.

- Abby Hammond collected two saves across 15 minutes of action.

UP NEXT
-  Edgewood College will open conference play on Wednesday. Action against Illinois Tech is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
