Eagles sweep Inferno in NACC Opener

VERONA, Wis. – A pair of five-inning run-rule wins opened conference play for Edgewood College softball on Monday. The Eagles took down Alverno College 13-2 in game one, followed by a 14-3 final for the conference sweep. The Eagles bats combined for 22 hits on Monday afternoon.

EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 13, ALVERNO COLLEGE 2 – 5 INNINGS
- Edgewood College (7-11, 2-0 NACC) scored 11 of their 13 runs in their first two trips to the plate on Monday. A homerun from Grace Ott and doubles from Olivia Hebert and Lily Mabs highlighted the Eagles offense in game one. Singles from Allie Draper and Chloe McLaughlin highlighted the Eagles six run first inning.

- Ott's three-run home run gave the Eagles a 9-0 advantage in the second inning. The Eagles went on to score two more runs for an 11-0 lead through two complete innings.

- A Mabs double and RBI single from Bean Dubree gave the Eagles a 13-1 lead going into the fifth frame.

- Hebert went 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs. Gracie Halfman went 3-for-3, scoring three runs. Natalie Fields, Lily Mabs, and Chloe McLaughlin each recorded two hits in the NACC opener.

- Lauren Prigge allowed just five hits in the conference opener, striking out two batters in her third win of the year. The freshman allowed just one earned run in her first outing at Ceniti Park.

EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 14, ALVERNO COLLEGE 3 – 5 INNINGS
- In the nightcap, Hebert recorded a triple and two home runs to pace the Eagles offense. Edgewood College scored in all four trips to the plate.

- Hebert blew the contest open in the second frame with an RBI triple to score McLaughlin and solidify the Eagle 3-0 advantage. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Dubree scored Hebert for a 4-0 score through two complete innings.

- Alverno College (1-10, 0-2 NACC) responded in the top of the third frame with three runs.

- Edgewood College tacked on five runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 9-3 lead. A pair of squeeze bunt plays went the way of the Eagles to take a 6-3 advantage before a three-run blast from Hebert over the right center fence solidified the inning.

- Hebert homered again in the bottom of the fourth frame to cap-off another five run inning from the Eagles.

- Grace Baugnet earned the start in the circle for the Eagles, throwing 2.1 innings and striking out three batters. Kaitlin Pratt earned the win, striking out four batters through 2.2 innings of work.

- Hebert went 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in six batters. McLaughlin went 1-for-1, scoring three runs and driving in three batters.

- Edgewood College will travel to Rockford, Ill. on Saturday. The conference doubleheader at Rockford University is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
