CLERMONT, Fla. – The Edgewood College Eagles softball team continued their 2025 Florida slate on Monday morning. The Eagles battled with Gallaudet before another morning tilt with Macalester. The Eagles put together an 11-3 six inning victory over Gallaudet, before the Scots of Macalester seized an 8-0 five win in five frames.
EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 11, GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY 3 – 6 INNINGS
- Gallaudet University (2-11) scored first on Monday morning; a double down the right field line plating a Bison for a 1-0 advantage. Edgewood College (3-9) quickly responded, scoring three runs in the bottom of the second frame. A first and third situation went the way of the Eagles, with Gracie Halfman scoring from third to tie the game at one apiece. A Chloe McLaughlin single scored Bean Dubree and Fields for a 3-1 Eagle advantage.
- Gallaudet scored their second run in the third frame.
- The Eagles tacked on a whopping six runs in the bottom of the third inning. Lily Mabs plated two Eagles via a single to left center. McLaughlin continued a strong day at the plate with an RBI single to left field. Allie Draper and Olivia Hebert contributed to the scoring effort with RBI singles. Following the hit parade, the Eagles took a confident 9-2 lead. Natalie Fields plated Halfman in the fourth inning to put the Eagles to the 10-run mark.
- Dubree posted another RBI single for the Eagles in the sixth frame.
- The Eagles were speedy on the base paths, collecting eight stolen bases. Natalie Fields tying the single-game record for stolen bases, with four.
- Fields went 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in an Eagle.
- McLaughlin recorded two hits, three RBI, and scored a run.
- Grace Baugnet earned the start in the circle for the Eagles, pitching three innings and striking out three batters. Kaitlin Pratt earned the win, striking out two batters through one inning of work. Nikki Fahey appeared for two innings, only allowing one hit and striking out a batter.
MACALESTER COLLEGE 8, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0 – 5 INNINGS
- The Edgewood College bats struggled in game two on Monday. Macalester (7-3) pitcher Martha Miller went the distance in the circle, only allowing two hits and striking out five Eagles.
- Macalester led 3-0 going into the bottom of the fifth frame. The Scots loaded the bases and earned a walk-off grand slam to end the game via run-rule.
- Draper and Halfman each recorded a hit for Edgewood College in game two.
- Lauren Prigge earned the start in the circle for the Eagles, throwing three innings and allowing three hits. Kaitlin Pratt recorded 1.1 innings of relief, striking out two batters.
