PENSACOLA, FLA. – Baseball returned to action at the Studer's Blue Wahoos Stadium Challenge in Florida Monday afternoon. They took on the UW-Stout Blue Devils in nonconference action. The Eagles (3-7) earned a 12-7 victory over the Blue Devils (2-7) with a strong start.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a triple plated a run for UW-Stout in the first, Edgewood College pushed ahead with a five-run second. After loading the bases, the Eagles got on the board with a
Jacob Carney hit by pitch.
Kyle Prindle hit a two-RBI double to left center, before a balk and a throwing error would conclude the five-run rally.
- Edgewood College kept the pressure on with two runs in the third and three in the fourth.
Terry Tolliver Jr. plated a run with a single through the right side, while
Dominic Lee doubled to right center for the other run in the third. A
Brevin Brisack sacrifice fly kicked off the scoring in the fourth inning.
Hayden Hellenbrand sent an RBI single up the middle, before a wild pitch sent home another for a 10-1 lead after the top of the fourth.
-The Blue Devils chipped away at the Eagle lead. A solo home run to left center and a sacrifice fly to right field plated a pair of runs in the fourth, before an RBI single in the fifth left things at 10-4 Edgewood College.
- Tolliver Jr. tacked on a pair of insurance runs to keep UW-Stout at bay in the eighth. A two-RBI double to right center left the Eagles ahead 12-5 after the top of the inning. While the Blue Devils sent three home in the bottom of the frame, Edgewood College kept UW-Stout at bay for a 12-7 victory.
- Tolliver Jr. hit 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. Prindle swung 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two doubles.
- Lee finished 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Eight Eagles finished with a hit.

Drew Lenz claimed the victory on the mound. He pitched seven innings with three strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College is third in the NACC with a .967 fielding percentage as a team. Tolliver and
Daniel Bentivegna each have a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on the season so far.

The Eagles will wrap up their stay in Florida Tuesday. They'll have a rematch against the UW-Stout Blue Devils. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
