Eagles down Augsburg to highlight day two in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Edgewood College softball team bounced back to take down Augsburg University in the nightcap on Saturday at The Spring Games. The Eagles opened the day with an 18-2 loss to UW-La Crosse. Lauren Prigge and the Eagles bats earned their first victory of their Florida trip with a convincing 9-0, 5 inning victory over the Auggies.

EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 9, AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY 0 – 5 INNINGS
- Edgewood College (2-8) handed Augsburg University (7-1) their first loss of 2025 in the nightcap on Saturday.

- The Eagles didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard in the second game of the day. Allie Draper moved Kya Loffswold into scoring position via a sacrifice bunt. Olivia Hebert laced a triple to left field to score Loffswold and give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

- The Edgewood College bats continued to put pressure on Augsburg in the third frame, scoring four runs. A double steal from Natalie Fields and Grace Ott put the Eagles in the driver's seat, 5-0.

- Lauren Prigge silenced the Auggies bats, striking out four-straight batters between the end of the third inning and the fourth frame. Her juice in the circle gave the Eagles bats all the confidence they needed to plate four more runs and put the run-rule victory on the table in the bottom of the fourth frame. Lily Mabs led the Eagles off with a double to center field. Draper roped a single to right field to score pinch runner Grace Baugnet.

- Prigge put the Eagles on her back with a career performance in the circle. The freshman earned her first career victory, going the distance and striking out a career-best eight batters in the process.

- Hebert went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Eagles, recording a decisive triple in the first inning. The senior scored two runs and drove in two runs. Loffswold scored three runs in the victory.

UW-LA CROSSE 18, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 2 – 5 INNINGS
- The fellow Eagles of UW-La Crosse (7-2) were dominant at the plate in the first game on Saturday for Edgewood College. A two-run home run got the scoring started for UW-La Crosse, who plated six runs in the bottom of the first inning.

- Edgewood College scored in the top of the second inning, as Gracie Halfman came across for the Eagles first run. UW-La Crosse tacked on eight runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 14-1 advantage.

- Hebert scored the second run for Edgewood College in the top of the third inning.

- UW-La Crosse tacked on two runs in both the third and fourth frames.

- Draper proved to be a consistent source at the plate for Edgewood College, going 2-for-3 and adding a double. Ott and Halfman also recorded hits game one on Saturday.

- A trio of pitchers saw time in the circle for Edgewood College, with Tatum Duff earning the start. Nikki Fahey pitched 2.1 innings of relief, striking out two batters. Grace Baugnet finished things off for the Eagles in the circle.

- Maddy Bornbach went 4-for-4 at the plate for UW-La Crosse, scoring three runs and driving home two runs.

- Edgewood College will face Gallaudet University and Macalester on Monday, March 17. Action against Gallaudet is set for 9:00 a.m. (ET), followed by Macalester at 11:30 a.m. (ET).
