UW-La Crosse attack too much in non-conference battle

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's lacrosse team fell to UW-La Crosse on Wednesday. The battle of the Eagles went 19-8, in favor of UW-La Crosse. The non-conference foe built a 10-4 lead at halftime, before tacking on nine goals in the final two quarters of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-La Crosse (2-2) scored the first five goals on Wednesday. Emma Raupp put Edgewood College (0-4) on the board in the final seconds of the first quarter.

- Edgewood College opened the second quarter with two goals from Christina Eloe and Tatyana Ryan to reduce the UW-La Crosse advantage to just two goals (5-3). UW-La Crosse responded with five goals before halftime. Raupp scored once more before the break, but it wasn't enough to cut into a commanding 10-4 advantage.

- Raupp scored three times in the final two quarters, but it wasn't enough to slow down UW-La Crosse. The fellow Eagles scored seven goals in the third quarter and added two in the final 15 minutes. Edgewood College managed to take advantage of player-up situations, scoring twice in the third quarter with the player advantage.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Raupp led the Edgewood College attack with five goals.

- Unitan dished out two assists for the Edgewood College.

- Eloe collected a team-best eight draw controls.

- Pond recorded 13 saves and picked up seven ground balls.

THE OPPOSITION
- Megan Maloney, Ava Schiltz, and Evie Brilz each recorded four goals for UW-La Crosse. Brilz added three assists, while Maloney and Megan Feeney assisted on two goals each. '

- Angie Olla collected nine draw controls on Wednesday.

- Shiltz caused three turnovers and collected two ground balls.

- Stefania Rossie recorded six saves in net across 45 minutes of action.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will host Hamline University on Monday. Action is set to start at 4:00 p.m. from Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park.
