Green Knights deal Eagles NACC setback

DE PERE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team fell at St. Norbert College on Saturday afternoon. The 82-53 NACC contest went in favor of the hot shooting Green Knights. Vivian Guerrero and Jordan Carlquist led the Eagles scoring effort on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (12-9, 8-4 NACC) struggled to make their mark in the opening quarter, only scoring six points and allowing 17 points from the Green Knights. The Eagles turned the ball over seven times in the first quarter.

- The Eagles rebounded in the second quarter, shooting 47.37 percent (9-for-19) from the floor and outscoring St. Norbert (16-4, 11-1 NACC) 22-18 before halftime. The Green Knights held on to their early lead and took a 35-28 advantage into the break.

- Vivian Guerrero opened the third quarter with a rare three-point make to reduce the Green Knights lead to just four points. St. Norbert stormed back on a 23-2 run through most of the quarter. The Green Knights took a 65-42 lead into the final 10 minutes of action behind 85 percent (12-for-14) shooting in the third quarter.

- The Eagles shooting woes continued in the fourth quarter, as they could only score 11 points on 10 shots from the floor in the final 10 minutes. The Green Knights held on for 17 points in the final quarter to earn the conference victory.

- Turnovers doomed the Eagles, as the Green Knights scored 24 points off 17 turnovers.

- Edgewood College only shot 35.3 percent (18-for-51) from the floor on Saturday. On contrast, the Eagles went 13-for-13 from the charity stripe.

- Vivian Guerrero led the Eagles with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor. Jordan Carlquist added 11 points for her fourth double-digit scoring in the past five games.

- Guerrero led the Eagles rebounding effort with seven of her own. Kallie Norby and Moli Haak each pulled down five rebounds to help the Eagles collect 30 in De Pere.

THE OPPOSITION
- Three Green Knights finished in double-digit scoring on Saturday afternoon. Taylor Thiry led St. Norbert with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor. Casey Jepson (15 points) and Emma Morrisey (13 points) joined Thiry in double-digits.

- Thiry pulled down a team-high six rebounds, while Avery Bierowski added five rebounds.

- Morrisey dished out a game-high seven assists, while Thiry added four steals.

- The Green Knights shot a whopping 57.4 percent (31-for-54) from the floor on Saturday afternoon, including 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from beyond the arc.

- Edgewood College will travel to Marian on Wednesday. Action is set for 5:30 p.m. from Fond du Lac, Wis.
