Edgewood College falls to sharp-shooting Benedictine

LISLE, ILL. – Women's Basketball headed south for a NACC clash Wednesday evening. They faced off with the Benedictine Eagles. Benedictine (11-9, 7-4 NACC) took command of the game with a 25-10 first quarter and never looked back on route to a 67-50 victory against Edgewood College (12-8, 8-3).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benedictine's offense was sharp in the first five minutes, building a 14-2 edge at 5:15 having only missed two shots since 8:55. Back-to-back threes closed out the first period strong for Benedictine as they led 25-10.
 
- Benedictine outshot Edgewood College 55.56 (10-of-18) to 30.77 (4-of-13) from the field in the first quarter.
 
- A 7-3 run extended the Benedictine lead to 32-13 with 4:04 remaining in the second period. Edgewood College struggled for answers, never closing within single digits as Benedictine went to the locker room up 37-24.
 
- Benedictine's offense continued to roll in the second half. A 16-4 burst pushed them ahead 53-28 with 4:42 remaining in the period. They would lead by as much as 27 down the stretch and never led by less than 17 points as they claimed an impressive victory.
 
- Benedictine won the rebounding battle 36-to-31.
 
- Five Benedictine shooters scored nine or more points. Alexis Schueler anchored a potent offense with a game-high 15 points and five assists.
 
- Makenzie Carroll led all players with 10 rebounds. She also tallied nine points and four assists.
 
- Kallie Norby paced Edgewood College with 13 points.
 
- Vivian Guerrero tallied eight points and eight rebounds.
 
UP NEXT
Edgewood College will hit the road for a rematch of last year's NACC Tournament Semifinal Saturday. They'll head up to De Pere, Wis. to take on the St. Norbert Green Knights. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
