Eagles fall to Saint Benedict in Season Opener

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's lacrosse team opened the 2025 season hosting the College of Saint Benedict. The Bennies took down the Eagles 17-4 in the non-conference battle.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Christina Eloe put Edgewood College (0-1) on the board for the first time in 2025 50 seconds into the contest. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead, but the College of Saint Benedict (1-0) quickly responded with a goal of their own to tie the contest. Eloe used her speed to tally her second goal of the afternoon with 12:01 on the clock to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage.

- The Bennies scored twice in the final five minutes of the first quarter to give Saint Benedict a 3-2 lead after 15 minutes of action.

- The Saint Benedict attack exploded in the second quarter, scoring six goals and only allowing one goal from the Eagles. Emma Raupp scored her first of two goals on the afternoon with 4:05 remaining before halftime.

- Saint Benedict went into the break with a 9-3 advantage.

- Raupp scored the Eagles only goal of the second half via free-position shot in the third quarter. The Bennies scored five goals in the third quarter and added three more in the final 15 minutes for the 17-4 final.

- Raupp collected six draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers on Sunday.

- Eloe totaled five ground balls, two caused turnovers, and three draw controls for the Eagles.

- Zoee Pond recorded 13 saves in her first outing with the Eagles.

THE OPPOSITION
- Sami Hackley led Saint Benedict with five goals and two assists. Emma Nelson tacked on four goals and one assist, while Lilly Fandel Thompson and Hannah Kurowski each scored twice.

- Nelson added six caused turnovers, four draw controls and five ground balls on Sunday.

- Emma Schrepfer recorded one save across 60 minutes in net for the Bennies.

- Edgewood College will travel to Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, March 1. Action is set for 4:00 p.m. from Bloomington, Ill.
