PEORIA, Ill. – The Edgewood College softball team opened the 2025 season at the Blue Angel Invite hosted by Mount Mary. The Eagles faced UW-Platteville in the season opener, falling 3-1. Edgewood College closed out opening day falling 7-1 to Loras College.
UW-PLATTEVILLE 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 1
- UW-Platteville (1-0) took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- Edgewood College (0-2) quickly responded with their bats, as a single from Grace Ott in plated Natalie Fields from third base.
- The Eagles and Pioneers remained knotted a one run apiece until UW-Platteville took a 3-1 lead on a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning.
- Kya Loffswold led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-4 and adding a double.
- Olivia Hebert laced a double to open the bottom of the third inning for the Eagles.
- Lauren Prigge got the start for the Eagles in the circle, throwing five innings and striking out one batter in her debut. Nikki Fahey added a strikeout across two innings of relief.
LORAS COLLEGE 7, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 1
- The hot bats of Loras College (2-0) were too much for the Eagles in the nightcap. Loras scored an early run in the first but broke the game open with four runs in the third frame and two runs in the fourth inning.
- Edgewood College never gave up, Tatum Duff entered to pitch in the fourth inning and slowed the Duhawks attack with two strikeouts, one in the fourth and another coming in the fifth frame.
- Gracie Halfman was a consistent force for the Eagles in center field, making a diving catch in the fifth inning to keep the Loras attack off the base paths.
- The Eagles momentum continued into the bottom of the fifth inning, where Bean Dubree recorded her first hit as an Eagle, a ground rule double. Lily Mabs scored Dubree with a single to right center to put the Eagles on the board.
- Loffswold, Dubree, Mabs, and Miller each recorded a high in the nightcap.

- Edgewood College will have a quick turnaround as they face UW-Stevens Point on Friday at 8:00 a.m. The Eagles will wrap up their time in Peoria, Ill. against Augustana College at 12:30 p.m.
