Eagles roll past Stars in NACC victory

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team took down NACC opponent Dominican University on Wednesday evening. The 97-57 final lifts the Eagles to their 10th conference victory of the season. Vivian Guerrero, Kallie Norby and Kate Gunderson scored in double-digits on Wednesday in the Todd Wehr Edgedome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (14-10, 10-5 NACC) and Dominican University (5-19, 1-14 NACC) went back-and-forth through the first five minutes of action. The Eagles attack broke through with 5:14 on the clock in the first quarter, as Taylor Wollin knocked down a three-pointer to spark a 16-4 Eagles run to close out the first 10 minutes with a 26-14 lead. - Confident shooting continued for the Eagles in the second half, as they shot 55.6 percent (10-for-18) from the floor in the second quarter. Dominican struggled offensively, only scoring 10 points in the second quarter. Edgewood College posted 24 points before halftime to take a convincing 50-24 lead into the break.

- The Eagles didn't let halftime slow them down, shooting 58.8 percent (10-for-17) from the floor in the third quarter and scoring a game-best 28 points. Eight different Eagles scored in the third quarter, including a thrilling fastbreak layup for Adrienne Kirch to end the quarter. Kirch's layup gave the Eagles a 78-41 lead going into the final 10 minutes of action.

- The Stars battled to the end with the Eagles, but it wasn't enough to make a dent in the Edgewood College lead. Kylee Lonigro and Jayden Nortier highlighted the Eagles in the final 10 minutes, both scoring four points.

- Vivian Guerrero led the Eagles with a 16 point, 10 rebound double-double. The senior dished out four assists and added two blocks on the night.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- 15 different Eagles scored in the team victory on Wednesday.

- Guerrero moves into 10th place on the Eagles career scoring list with 1,117 career points. The senior passes assistant coach Abby Shane who collected 1,054 points between 2017 and 2022. Guerrero is currently 20 rebounds shy of 1,000 in her career. If she were to reach the mark, she would be only the third Eagle to score both 1,000 points and rebounds.
