MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team dropped a 63-53 battle to Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday. Edgewood College outscored the Warriors in the final quarter, but it was too little too late. The Eagles celebrated the careers of six seniors on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wisconsin Lutheran College (16-7, 13-1 NACC) came out of the gate strong, taking an early 23-11 lead through the first quarter of action. The Warriors shot 52.9 percent (9-for-17) from the floor in the opening 10 minutes.
- Edgewood College (13-10, 9-5 NACC) responded with a 19 point second quarter to get within seven points (37-30) at halftime. Vivian Guerrero was a spark for the Eagles in the second half, scoring seven of the Eagles 19 points in the second quarter.
- The third quarter was a defensive battle. The Warriors outscored the Eagles 14-8, holding Edgewood College to just 15.4 percent (2-for-13) shooting out of halftime. Lara Troxel was a highlight for the Warriors, scoring five points.
- The Eagles outscored the Warriors 15-12 in the final quarter of action.
- Vivian Guerrero led the Eagles with an 18 point, 11 rebound double-double. Guerrero led the Eagles with five blocks on Saturday.
- Jordan Carlquist posted 18 points on Saturday. The graduate student added six rebounds, three assist and two steals.
Kallie Norby collected eight points, five rebounds and two assist.
- The Eagles celebrated the careers of Jessie Carlquist, Jordan Carlquist, Kenzie Senffner, Vivian Guerrero, Kallie Norby and Kate Gunderson.
THE OPPOSITION
- Margie Stevens led Wisconsin Lutheran with a 23-point, 11 rebound double-double. The sophomore added five steals and a block.
- Janiyah Goner collected 11 points, while Kara Troxel added 10 points.
- Jayden Hill was consistent for the Warriors, recording eight points and pulling down eight rebounds.
