GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Edgewood College men's lacrosse team opened the 2025 season at Calvin University on Saturday. The Eagles fell 18-2 in the non-conference battle. The Knights attack was too much for the Eagles, as Calvin scored 15 goals before halftime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (0-1) struggled to contain the fast-paced Calvin University (1-0) attack on Saturday. The Knights opened the first quarter with eight un-answered goals.
- Calvin continued to push forward in the second quarter, scoring seven more goals to take a 15-0 advantage at halftime. The Eagles could only manage four total shots in the opening half.
- Edgewood College got on the scoreboard in the third quarter as Nick Orosco found the Eagles first goal of the 2025 season, assisted by Maddux Ptasienski in the 10th minute of the third quarter.
- Lake Rewey added to the Eagle scoring in the final seconds of the contest, his goal assisted by Zach Thomas.
- Edgewood College held Calvin to just three goals in the final 30 minutes on Saturday.
- Nick Krus and Logan Searles shared goalkeeping responsibilities on Saturday. Searles managed two saves across 13 minutes in net, while Krus recorded a career-best 15 saves in 47 minutes.
- Sean Callen went 7-for-19 on the faceoff for the Eagles, adding four ground balls.
THE OPPOSITION
- Braden Carpenter led Calvin with four goals and two assists. Carpenter added four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Jordan Warners added four goals and one assist.
- Thomas Smith recorded a hat trick.
- Five Knights shared time in goal on Saturday. Carter Sherman recorded three saves across 15 minutes, while Corgan Shaumburg added two saves in 30 minutes in net.
- Nate Hanson went 11-for-18 on the faceoff.
