MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team outscored Concordia University Wisconsin 33-18, in the second half of Saturday NACC contest, securing a 64-51 victory over the Falcons. Kallie Norby, Jordan Carlquist and Vivian Guerrero scored in double-figures in the home win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (12-7,8-2 NACC) and Concordia Wisconsin (8-11, 7-3 NACC) battled in a back-and-forth first half on Saturday. The Falcons outscored the Eagles 19-18 in the first quarter and followed that up with a 14-13 effort in the second quarter. Free throws were key in the first two quarters, as the Falcons went 13-for-14 at the charity stripe through the first 20 minutes. The Eagles got to the line far less often, a 5-for-9 mark for the Eagles at halftime.
- Edgewood College came out of halftime on a mission, holding Concordia Wisconsin to just five points in the third quarter and 11.8 percent (2-for-17) shooting from the floor. The Eagles defense coupled with timely scoring from Kallie Norby and Jordan Carlquist gave the Eagles a 41-38 lead going into the final quarter.
- The Eagles didn't hold back in the final 10 minutes, scoring a game-high 23 points. 66.7 percent (6-for-9) shooting from the floor was key in the fast-paced final quarter. The Eagles free-throw shooting finally kicked in, making 10-for-12 from the charity stripe.
- Edgewood College pulled down a game-best 45 rebounds on Saturday. 13 of the Eagles rebounds came on the offensive side of the ball.
- Vivian Guerrero recorded a 15 rebound, 10 point double-double. The senior added three rebounds and a block.
- Kallie Norby continued to be consistent scoring force for the Eagles, recording 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. Norby added six rebounds.
- Jordan Carlquist continued to be a momentum spark, scoring 16 points and pulling down three rebounds.
- Kenzie Senffner dished out a game-best five assists.
- Jayden Nortier and Moli Haak each recorded six points on Saturday.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Guerrero has recorded her second-straight 15 rebound performance and fourth double-digit rebounding effort in the past five games. Guerrero currently owns 931 rebound in her career, which is third best in the Eagles record books.
- Concordia Wisconsin leads the all-time series 43-30, but the Eagles have won the last two meetings.
THE OPPOSITION
- Aubrey DeBauch led the Falcons with 19 points, shooting 8-for-17 from the floor.
- Ava Booth and Liliana Guerra both finished the afternoon with 10 points.
- Guerra added six rebounds, while Jayden Ross dished out four assists.
