MEQUON, Wis. – The Edgewood University men's basketball team went on the road to face Concordia University Wisconsin on Monday evening. The Eagles took a 31-29 lead into halftime, but the Falcons controlled the second half, resulting in a 76-71 setback for the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (0-7, 0-3 NACC) held Concordia Wisconsin (4-4, 2-1 NACC) to just 33.67 percent (11-for-30) shooting from the floor in the first half of action on Monday evening.
- A three-point make by Kaleb Walter with 6:59 on the clock in the first half sparked a 11-0 run that gave the Eagles a 12-point advantage (28-16) over the Falcons with just 5 minutes remaining. Concordia Wisconsin clawed back in the final minutes of the half to score 13 and trail the Eagles by just two points at halftime.
- The Eagles and Falcons traded the lead nine times in the second half. After losing the lead in the first five minutes of the second half, a crucial three-point make from Walter gave the Eagles a 46-45 advantage with 13:24 remaining. Just a minute later, A three-pointer from Jacob Cristjohn gave Concordia Wisconsin a 48-46 lead.
- AC Strok made a three-pointer in 10:20 remaining to bring the Eagles back within two points (53-51) of the Falcons. A layup from Strok and three-pointer from Trent Tousana gave Edgewood University a 56-53 lead with 9:17 remaining. The Falcons went on to outscore the Eagles 23-13 in the final eight minutes on Monday.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Hunter Hardyman posted a career-best 20 points on Monday evening. The senior led the Eagles in scoring, going 7-for-11 from the floor, 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
- Walter knocked down a career-best 13 points for Edgewood University. Walter went 3-for-7 from three-point range, including two in the second half.
- Tousana pulled down a team-best six rebounds and dished out three assists.
THE OPPOSITION
- Logan Landers posted 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Falcons. He went a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line and 8-for-10 from the floor on Monday evening.
- Casey Verhagen added 24 points and dished out three assists.
- Jacob Christjohn recorded 14 points and posted three steals.
