RIVER FOREST, ILL. – Men's Basketball hit the road Wednesday as they kicked off NACC action for the 2025-26 campaign. They battled with the Concordia Chicago Cougars. The Cougars (2-4, 1-0 NACC) fended off a second half comeback from the Eagles (0-5, 0-1) to claim a 63-56 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a slow first ten minutes, Concordia Chicago held a slim 12-8 advantage over Edgewood University with 9:44 left in the half. The next two minutes were all Cougars, 13 unanswered fueling a 25-8 edge at 7:43. The Eagles struggled to chip into the lead as Concordia Chicago headed to the locker up ahead 37-24.
- Edgewood University refused to let the Cougars out of their sights in the second half. Down 47-33 at 15:21, a 14-4 explosion from the Eagles put them within striking distance down 51-47 with 7:54 remaining. A key three-pointer from
Will Gretzinger had them within 53-52 with 4:14 left. The offense went cold, scoring only two points over the next 3:34. Concordia Chicago made their free throws late to put away Edgewood University.
- The Eagles won the rebounding battle 40-to-31, but shot only 19.2 (5-of-26) percent from beyond the arc.
- The Cougars battled in the paint, outscoring Edgewood University 42-to-22.
- Darrian Williams posted a game-high 18 points and was one of four Concordia Chicago players with two steals.
- Five Eagles scored seven or more points. Gretzinger paced the group with 10 while added two assists.

Logan Steffensmeier grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, adding seven points and two blocked shots.

Payton Bowser posted nine and eight points respectively.

Trent Tousana tallied three assists and three steals.

- Steffensmeier's nine rebounds were a career best for the freshman.

Edgewood University will look to rebound with a home matchup on Saturday. They'll host the Marian Sabres at the Todd Wehr Edgedome for a NACC battle. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
