Eagles fall to Firebirds in Wisconsin Dells

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. – The Edgewood University men's basketball team faced Carthage College at JustAGame Fieldhouse in the Wisconsin Dells on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fell to the Firebirds via a final score of 78-58 in non-conference action. Four Firebirds in double-digits was too much for the Eagles on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Through the first four minutes, Edgewood University (1-8) held tough with Carthage College (7-4). The Eagles trailed by just two points (8-2) at the 16:01 mark thanks to a jumper from Isaiah Hubanks. From there, the Firebirds would go on a 9-2 run to take a nine-point lead (17-8) with 13:06 remaining in the first half. At the end of 20 minutes, Carthage led 37-27.

- Carthage posted a game-best 46.28 percent (14-for-29) shooting in the second half. Despite the Eagles holding the Firebirds to just one three-point make in the second half, Carthage outscored the Eagles 41-31 in the second half. The Firebirds went to the free-throw line 14 times in the second half, making 12 of their shots.

- Edgewood University was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line in the second half, but their shooting from the floor (35.48 percent) wasn't enough to reduce the Firebirds advantage.

- The Firebirds were lethal from close range on Sunday, scoring 42 points in the paint.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Trent Tousana led the Eagles attack with 11 points. Tousana went 3-for-6 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

- Hubanks pulled down a team-high six rebounds on Sunday. Hubanks added nine points, going 4-for-7 from the floor.

- Avery Houden posted seven points, pulled down three rebounds, and recorded two blocks.

THE OPPOSITION
- Four Firebirds recorded double-digit scoring on Sunday. Chris Schleisinger posted a game-high 21 points, going 8-for-9 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.

- AJ Johnson and Ryan Johnson both posted 13 points for Carthage. Riley Brooks added 11 points.

- Ryan Johnson led the Firebirds with 11 rebounds, all coming on the defensive side of the ball. He added four assists on the afternoon.

- Edgewood University will wrap up 2025 and the non-conference portion of the schedule at Carroll University on Tuesday, December 30. Action is set for 4:00 p.m. from Waukesha, Wis.
