WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's basketball team closed out 2025 at the JustAGame Division III Invitational on Saturday. The Eagles faced a tough task in undefeated No. 3 UW-Oshkosh. The Titans took home the victory via a 78-42 final score.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 3 UW-Oshkosh (9-0) put together a balanced victory on Saturday. 12 different Titans scored in the non-conference contest, while 16 different players recorded a rebound.
- The Titans opened the non-conference bout with a confident 20 points in the first quarter. Edgewood University (5-6) struggled to keep pace with the Titans, scoring just eight points and shooting 28.57 percent (4-for-14) in the opening 10 minutes.
- The Eagles settled in after the first 10 minutes, holding UW-Oshkosh to just 26.67 percent (4-for-15) shooting from the floor in the second quarter. Unfortunately, the Eagles couldn't capitalize on the offensive end of the floor, only scoring eight points. UW-Oshkosh took a confident 30-16 lead into halftime.
- The Titans saved their best performance for after halftime, scoring 24 points in both the third and fourth quarters. The Titans shot a 64.29 percent (9-for-14) from the floor in the third quarter and 58.33 percent (7-for-12) in the fourth quarter. In addition, the Titans posted six three-point makes after the break and missed only one free-throw in the final 20 minutes.
- Edgewood University saw their best scoring effort come in the third. Six different Eagles contributed to 16 points in the third quarter.
- UW-Oshkosh did well to limit turnovers, only giving the ball up on five occasions on Saturday. In contrast, the Eagles posted 16 turnovers and gave up 22 points on those occasions.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Gunderson posted nine points to lead the Eagles scoring effort. The senior went 3-for-7 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.
- Ava Berg pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and added six points.
THE OPPOSITION
- Sarah Hardwick led the Titans with 12 points. Hardwick went 4-for-5 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.
- 12 different Titans scored in the non-conference contest on Saturday. 42 of the Titans 78 points came from the bench.
- Paige Seckar posted a team-best five rebounds and added six points.
