NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Edgewood University women's basketball team traveled to Illinois for more non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fell to the North Central College Cardinals via an 88-49 score. Ella Hamacher posted career-best scoring, but the Eagles couldn't hang with the Cardinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- North Central College (3-1) jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in the first quarter. Londyn Holewinski drained a three-pointer to get Edgewood University (2-3) on the board with 5:04 on the clock in the first quarter. Despite scoring 10 points in the final five minutes, North Central took an 18-13 advantage into the second quarter.
- Both the Eagles and Cardinals scored the same points in the second as they did the first. The Eagles giving up 11-straight points to open the quarter. Again, Holewinski netted a three-pointer to break the Cardinals scoring streak. Ava Berg and Laci Lindsey each netted three-pointers in the final minute and a half of the quarter to reduce the Cardinals lead to just 10 points (36-26) at halftime.
- North Central turned on the jets in the third quarter, shooting 62.50 percent (10-for-16) from the floor in the third quarter, going 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and 6-for-7 from the charity stripe to score a game-high 28 points. The Eagles managed 17 points but couldn't slow down the Cardinals.
- Edgewood University scored just six points in the final 10 minutes on Saturday. North Central pulled away with 24 points in the final quarter.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Hamacher posted a career-best 17 points for the Eagles. The freshman going 7-for-13 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe.
- Taylor Wollin pulled down a team-high six rebounds and added two steals.
- Berg was balanced for the Eagles, scoring eight points, pulling down five rebounds and dishing out four assists.
THE OPPOSITION
- Biz Daly led the Cardinals with 26 points. Daly went 9-for-15 from the floor and 8-for-11 from the charity stripe.
- Kennedy Hartwig (14 points) and Jocelyn Trotter (12 points) scored in double-digits for North Central. Trotter added a game-high 12 rebounds and eight steals.
- Cate Uhren dished out four assists. The Cardinals totaled 23 assists, with five players posting three or more assists.

- Edgewood University will open NACC play against Concordia University Chicago on Wednesday, December 3. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
