MADISON, Wis. – Men's Basketball kicked off their home slate at the Todd Wehr Edgedome Saturday afternoon. They took on the Chicago Maroons, ranked #11 in the preseason D3hoops.com national poll. The Eagles (0-3) gave everything the Maroons (3-1) could handle, but the visitors came out ahead 78-66.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The squads landed blows early, but at 14:36 Chicago led 13-9. Sharpshooting from beyond the arc helped Edgewood University keep up with the visitors throughout the first half, but a late 11-4 run sent the Maroons to the locker room ahead 38-29.
- The Eagles came out firing in the second half, a 11-2 burst fueled by a trio of threes bringing them back to a 40-40 draw at 17:09. Chicago answered with 11 unanswered of their own as Edgewood University struggled on offense, leading 51-40 with 14:29 left. While the Maroons held off the Eagles, the hosts hung on and closed within 69-64 with 4:44 remaining on a 7-2 rally. Edgewood University struggled to get closer as their shots didn't fall in the remaining minutes as the Maroons escaped with a victory.
- Chicago dominated in the paint with a 44-to-16 advantage in points there. Nick Roper impressed with a game-high 28 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.
- The Eagles shot 50 (12-of-24) percent from beyond the arc.
Hunter Hardyman finished 3-of-6 from three-point land with 15 points, three assists, and two blocks to his name.

Matt Kirk paced Edgewood University with 17 points and six rebounds.
- The Eagles had a 22-to-6 gap in bench points.
Will Gretzinger earned 11 points off the bench, shooting 3-of-3 beyond the arc.
- Shane Regan and Daniel Cochran rounded out the double-digit Maroons with 20 and 11 points respectively. Both grabbed eight rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Gretzinger's 11 points were a career high.

Jonah Anderson posted a personal best in his Eagles career with four assists.
