MADISON, WIS. – Women's Soccer hosted a NACC Tournament Quarterfinal Sunday. As the third seed, they took on the sixth-seeded Marian Sabres at Edgewood University Field at Reddan Park. An early goal followed up with a stout defense helped the Eagles (15-4-1) advance to the NACC Tournament Semifinals with a 1-0 victory over the Sabres (8-8-4).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A beautiful corner kick from
Reaghan Spencer was headed in by
Kamy Luecke at 3:29 for the lone goal of the afternoon.
- Edgewood University held the Sabres to just four shots on goal.
Emma Swenson stepped up in goal with four saves in a complete game shutout.
- The two squads kept on the pressure late into the 90 minutes. After a shot on goal from Marian at 77:53,
Greta Blau and
Megan Hines kept the Sabres on their toes at 78:18 and 78:52. Marian's last hope of forcing overtime was at 88:33, but Swenson snuffed out a shot on the bottom right to help the Eagles advance.

Riley Haertle paced the Edgewood University offense with three shots on goal in 90 minutes of action.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With the victory, the Eagles advance to the NACC Semifinals for the first time since the 2016 season.
- The NACC Quarterfinal victory was the first of
Derek Helmer's tenure as head coach.
