MADISON, Wis. – Women's Basketball continued action at the Todd Wehr Edgedome Wednesday evening. They took on the Beloit Buccaneers in nonconference action. The Eagles (2-2) surged ahead in the second and third quarters after a slow start for a 63-51 victory over the Buccaneers (1-4).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Beloit controlled the first five minutes of action as Edgewood University struggled on offense, trailing 12-5 at the 5:28 mark. The Eagles bounced back with 12 unanswered points, a later three-pointer from the Buccaneers giving them a 15-14 edge heading into the second quarter.
- Edgewood University hit their stride in the late second quarter. Tied 23-23, five points in the last 1:37 of action would have them hitting the lockers up 28-23. They kept momentum rolling into the opening minutes of the second half, scoring eight points in the first 1:29 of the third quarter as their lead ballooned to 36-23.
- Beloit struggled to break through a stout Eagles defense as Edgewood University maintained a 48-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Eagles left little room for the Buccaneers to operate in the fourth quarter, their lead never shrinking below 12 points as they won a physical affair at the Edgedome.
- Edgewood University boxed out their opponents with a 49-to-29 edge in rebounds. They also had a 28-to-16 advantage in points in the paint.
- Three Eagles grabbed eight rebounds.
Laci Lindsey nabbed eight of her own.

Ella Hamacher came close to a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Sophia Guerrero continued to be a force in the paint with five blocks and added two steals.

Taylor Wollin shined in the victory. She paced all Edgewood University players with 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She shot 8-of-12 from the field.
- Hailey Johnson led the Buccaneers with 19 points. Kaitlin Davis grabbed 12 rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Wollin's 17 points and eight rebounds were both career bests.
- Guerrero has averaged 5.5 blocks per game in the last two games.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will look to keep rolling as they hit the road once more for nonconference action. They'll head to Naperville, Ill. to take on North Central on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Gregory Arena.
