MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's basketball squad kick off their home slate Monday evening. Judson University traveled north for the non-conference tilt. Edgewood University claimed their first win of the season 61-50 over Judson. Laci Lindsey claimed her first collegiate double-double to highlight Edgewood University.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Judson University (0-2) led Edgewood University (1-2) through the first 10 minutes on Monday. Edgewood University quickly responded with 23 points in the second quarter. Back-to-back three-point makes from Laci Lindsey and Grace Vesperman put Edgewood University back in the driver's seat with an 18-16 advantage with 7:22 remaining before halftime. Seven makes from the charity stripe helped Edgewood University take a 33-22 advantage into halftime. The host Eagles shot a game-best 43.8 percent (7-for-16) from the floor in the second quarter.
- Edgewood University continued to roll out of the break, opening the quarter on a 9-3 run. With just 10 minutes remaining, Edgewood University led Judson 48-35.
- With 5:23 remaining, Judson closed the gap to just seven points (52-45). Edgewood University wouldn't settle, scoring nine of their 13 fourth-quarter points in the final five minutes.
- Laci Lindsey posted a 17 point, 11 rebound double-double, the first of her career.
- Grace Vesperman (12 points), and Taylor Wollin (10 points) joined Lindsey in double-digit scoring.
- Ella Hamacher pulled down a career-best nine rebounds and added a best four assists.
- Vesperman added three steals and dished out three assists.
THE OPPOSITION
- Bridget Grady and Kendra Brown led Judson with 11 points each.
- Grady pulled down eight rebounds to lead Judson. Easton Kimball added seven rebounds of her own.
- Madison Carlson posted four steals.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Lindsey posted a career-best mark in both points (17) and rebounds (11) on Monday evening.
- Edgewood University and Judson last met back on in the 2000-01 season. Judson leads the all-time series 4-3.
