MADISON, WIS. – Women's Volleyball kicked things off in the NACC Tournament Tuesday. As the top overall seed, they hosted the eighth-seeded Benedictine Eagles at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. Edgewood University (23-6) controlled the match, sweeping away Benedictine (11-17) 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-16) to advance to the NACC Tournament Semifinal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University rolled through the first set, kicking things off on a 9-1 run and never letting up. They outhit Benedictine .286-to-.038 on route to a 25-10 final.
- While Edgewood University seemed poised to run away with set two as well, Benedictine began to click. Down 7-2, Benedictine put together a 5-2 reply to stay on the top seed's heels. Small 4-1 and 3-0 runs late would help Edgewood University build up a 21-14 advantage. Benedictine had one last hurrah, a 6-1 sprint to close within 24-21, but a
Kennedy Kabat kill cut the comeback short.
- Up 5-4 early, Edgewood University took off like a shot on a 12-2 run as Benedictine had no answers. A late 8-3 rally would help Benedictine bridge the gap, but Edgewood University had no issues sealing the set and advancing.
- Edgewood University had sizable advantages in most major statistical categories. They had an 8-to-1 edge in aces, 9-to-5 lead in blocks, 38-to-22 margin in kills, and outhit Benedictine .226-to-.010.

Katie Borchert spearheaded the Edgewood University efforts with a 11-kill, 12-dig double-double. She added three blocks and two aces.

Nida Zukauskaite shined with eight kills and seven digs.
Mia Hinkamper posted 10 digs of her own.

Kate Gunderson tallied 14 assists.
Marina Hosticka held down the fort at the net with six blocks.

Abbey Eivins excelled. She posted a 13-assist, 10-dig double-double with four aces to her name.
