VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's soccer team celebrated eight seniors with a 2-0 victory over Benedictine University on Saturday afternoon. Edgewood University extended their win streak to seven games with the shutout victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Kayla Kerkman was determined to leave her mark, scoring the first goal for Edgewood University (13-4-1, 9-2-0 NACC) just 1:51 into the contest.
- The early lead from Kerkman held through halftime, as Edgewood University outshot Benedictine University (2-15-0, 2-9-0 NACC) 12-0 in the first half.
- Jessi Crivello continued the senior scoring in the 62nd minute with her first goal of the season. Crivello's goal, assisted by Stephanie Kalscheuer solidified the senior day victory.
- The visiting Eagles managed seven shots in the second half of action, while Edgewood University totaled 15 shots in the final 45 minutes.
- Madeline Brown earned the start in net for Edgewood University. Emma Swenson posted 45 minutes in the second half and recorded two saves.
- Marissa Amador recorded 12 saves for Benedictine University.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Nine conference wins is the most since the 2013 season, when the Eagles were NACC runner-up with a 10-1-0 conference record.
- The Edgewood University now owns 11 shutouts on the season, seven coming in conference action.
- Senior Day celebrated the achievements and accomplishments of seniors Madi Johnson, Reaghan Spencer, Greta Blau, Jessi Crivello, Rylee Brotz, Kamy Luecke, Anika Preusker, and Kayla Kerkman.
