VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's soccer team continued to roll past NACC opponents, taking down Concordia Chicago 2-0 on Wednesday evening. The Eagles earned their sixth-straight win, to improve to 8-2 in conference play. Kamy Luecke and Anika Preusker both scored for the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (12-4-1, 8-2-0 NACC) scored once in both halves on Wednesday to earn their eighth conference victory. Kamy Luecke netted her fifth goal of the season in the 28th minute to put the Eagles on the board. Megan Hines dished out the assist on the Eagles first goal.
- Both teams were even on shots with five a piece at halftime. Madeline Brown making some key saves in net, with four in the first half for Edgewood University.
- Anika Preusker provided some fresh legs and the Eagles second goal in the 80th minute on Wednesday. Preusker taking advantage of chaos in the box to score her first goal of the season.
- The Eagles controlled the ball much more in the second half, only allowing one shot on goal in the final 45 minutes.
- Brown ended the contest with five saves and her fourth shutout of the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles victory over the Cougars gives them an 8-2 record with just two contests remaining in the regular season. The Eagle's record is the best conference mark under head coach Derek Helmer and since the 2016 season.
- A six-game win streak is the best for the Eagles since the 2022 season, when they claimed seven-straight conference games to earn a spot in the NACC tournament.
- The Eagles now own 10 shutouts on the season, six coming in conference action.
