VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University men's soccer attack opened Saturday's conference contest with three goals in 12 minutes. The Eagles went on to shutout Dominican University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. Four different players scored on Saturday, as the Eagles only allowed three shots from the Stars.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gabe Voung didn't leave the Eagles waiting for a goal on Saturday afternoon, scoring in the fourth minute. Voung's goal assisted by Brandon Kaup and Gavin Lewis.
- Edgewood University (9-1-2, 7-0-0 NACC) extended their lead in the sixth minute, as a corner kick off the foot of Brian Vazquez Trejo found its way into the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.
- Riley Stevens joined the party with 12:25 on the clock. Voung assisting on the Eagles third goal.
- The Eagles took a confident 3-0 advantage into halftime on Saturday. Edgewood University managed 14 shots through the first 45 minutes.
- Connor Gage added the Eagles fourth goal in the 69th minute. Gage's goal coming via penalty kick.
- Edgewood University outshot Dominican University 25-3 on Saturday. The Stars only three shots coming in the first half of action.
- Maverick Van Laanen got the start for the Eagles in net, making one save through 45 minutes of action.
- Joshual Memmelaar recorded four saves in net for the Stars.
- 13 different Eagles recorded a shot on Saturday, including every member of the starting lineup, except the Eagles goalkeeper.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles remain a perfect 7-0-0 in conference play, which goes down as not only their best record in NACC history but best conference record of all time. In the Lake Michigan Conference, the Eagles best start to conference place was a 6-0-0 mark during the 2000 season.
- Edgewood University ties the best winning-streak in program history at eight.
