MADISON- The Edgewood College men's basketball squad continued Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) action Wednesday as they looked for their second-straight victory. They faced off with the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks. The Eagles (4-10, 3-4 NACC) put together a 16-2 run in the second half to earn an 83-76 victory against the Scarlet Hawks (3-10, 2-4).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A pair of early threes from
Trey Traeder had Edgewood College ahead 10-4 at 16:47. After trailing 16-8 with 13:23 left in the half, Illinois Tech rallied and took over the next eight minutes of action, going on a 19-5 rally for a 27-21 advantage with 5:32 left. The Scarlet Hawks led by nine with 2:15 remaining, but a late 6-1 run gave the Eagles momentum as they went to the locker room down 36-32.
- Illinois Tech shot 53.33 (16-of-30) from the field in the first frame and had a 26-to-18 advantage in points in the paint.
- A quick four points from Edgewood College had them tied early in the second half. The two teams wrestled over single-possession leads until a 8-2 run from Illinois Tech put them up 55-49 with 14:12 left. The Eagles kept pace over the next 5:16, behind 66-60 with 8:56 left.
- Edgewood College took over the game. A 16-2 explosion over 4:35 put them ahead 76-68. The Eagles would keep the Scarlet Hawks grounded for the last minutes of the game, leading by no less than six as they claimed another NACC victory.
- Edgewood College shot 55.56 (20-of-36) percent from the field in the second half. They took over the paint as well, outscoring Illinois Tech 28-to-14 in the second half.
- Four Eagles scored in double-digits. Traeder paced the group with 19 points.

Drew Houtakker earned a double-double. He tallied 18 points and 12 rebounds, as well as five assists.

Trent Tousana scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Isaiah Hubanks played a key role off the bench with nine points in 15 minutes of action.

Hunter Hardyman contributed to all facets of the game. He scored 17 points and earned three blocks.
- Garrison Carter had a game-high 20 points. DeAndre Vortes and Joshua Iguade recorded 17 and 16 points respectively.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Hubanks and Hardyman each posted career-high point totals in the victory.
- Traeder's 19 points and Houtakker's 12 rebounds were season highs.
- The 83 points matched Edgewood College's season high (Lakeland, December 4)
- The Eagles have won three straight against the Scarlet Hawks and hold an 8-4 lead in the all-time series.
