Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Strong Raiders shooting grounds Eagles

MILWAUKEE, WIS. – After back-to-back Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) victories, the Edgewood College men's basketball squad hit the road looking for their third-straight victory. They faced off with the MSOE Raiders. The Raiders (9-5, 5-2 NACC) got the better of the Eagles (4-11, 3-5) in a 90-79 offensive slugfest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A hot hand from beyond the arc had MSOE rolling in the early minutes, leading 18-11 at 13:34. Edgewood College battled back as they hit their stride from three-point range, a 15-2 explosion over 3:03 putting them ahead 34-28 with 7:28 left in the half. The Raiders countered with an 11-5 sprint that concluded with back-to-back threes at the 3:13 mark. The hosts would head to the locker room ahead 47-43.

- MSOE took over early in the second half, putting the Eagles behind 64-50 at 15:02 after a 17-7 run. A 12-2 answer from Edgewood College proved they still had life as they trailed 66-62 with 9:14 remaining, but 12 unanswered by the Raiders over the next 3:30 would put things all but out of reach for the Eagles.

- MSOE had critical edges in rebounding and in the paint. They outscored Edgewood College 44-to-24 in the paint and held a 35-to-26 advantage in rebounds.

- Drew Houtakker shined in the defeat, earning a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double, his second in a row. He also recorded five blocked shots.

- Three other Eagles finished with double-digit points. Trent Tousana earned 13 points and four assists, while Matt Kirk tallied 13 points and two steals. Danny Mulcare also posted 13 points.

- Mason Dopirak finished with 22 points, eight assists, and three steals.

- Three other Raiders earned double-digit points. Donovan Carter scored 18 points and Chase Cummings tallied 12 points with five assists.

- MSOE shot 54.2 (32-of-59) percent from the field.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Houtakker's five blocked shots were a career best.
