ROCKFORD, ILL. – The Edgewood College Eagles men's basketball squad returned to action Wednesday night. They looked to get back on the right track with a NACC matchup against the Rockford Regents. A late rally for the Eagles (4-15, 3-9 NACC) fell short against the Regents (11-7, 6-5) in a 76-72 defeat.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rockford jumped out to a 16-6 lead at 14:48 as the Edgewood College offense struggled to get going. The Eagles offense clicked over the next 5:13 as an 11-4 rally pushed them within three. A late three from
Matt Kirk cut the deficit down to 27-26 at 2:43, but the Regents closed the half on a 6-2 run.
- Rockford took off in the first five minutes of the second frame, pulling ahead 47-30 on a 14-2 burst. The Regents held off Edgewood College as they led 56-42 with 10 minutes left in the game. A 13-4 explosion from the Eagles gave them life as they closed within 60-55 with 5:58 remaining. Edgewood College would inch closer, down 65-62 with 2:53 left. Five unanswered from Rockford would keep the visitors at arm's length as they headed towards victory.
- The Regents out rebounded the Eagles 38-to-32.
- Four finished in double-digit scoring for Edgewood College. Kirk paced the offense with 16 points, while
AC Strok earned 12.

Drew Houtakker finished with 11 points and a pair of steals.

Trent Tousana tallied 10 points and five rebounds.
Danny Mulcare led the visitors with six rebounds.
- Micah Swanson led Rockford in points (17) and rebounds (seven). He also earned a pair of steals.
- Jaden Bell posted 16 points and six rebounds. Devon Oregon rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points.

The Eagles will look to get back on course Saturday. They'll face off with the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons in Mequon, Wis. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
