MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team recorded its highest point total since the 2019-20 season. The Eagles shot a season best 54.4 percent from the floor in the 102-59 victory over Alverno on Saturday. Four Eagles finished in double-digit scoring in the conference road victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (10-7, 6-2 NACC) recorded their best shooting of the season on Saturday at Alverno, never recording below 50 percent shooting in a quarter and scoring no less than 22 points a quarter.
- The Eagles jumped out to a quick 25-6 lead after the first 10 minutes. Ava Berg was a big spark for the Eagles in the opening quarter, scoring six points to open the contest. Eight different Eagles contributed to the 25 point scoring effort.
- Kenzie Senffner opened the second quarter with a three-point make. The Eagles cruised to a 47-22 lead at halftime.
- The Eagles would tack on a game-high 30 points in the third quarter to lead 77-39 going into the final quarter.
- Londyn Holewinski put the Eagles into triple digits via free throws in the final minute.
- Jordan Carlquist, Taylor Wollin, and Jayden Nortier led the Eagles with 11 points each on Saturday. Ava Berg joined the trio in double-digit scoring with 10 points of her own.
- 16 different Eagles scored in the victory, with 62 points scored from players off the bench.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College went over the century mark for the third time in program history. The Eagles last scored over 100 points at North Central University on November 9, 2019.
- Taylor Wollin (11 points), Sophia Guerrero (8 points), Kylee Lonigro (5 points), Allie Mizwicki (4 points) and Londyn Holewinski (4 points) each recorded career-best performances on Saturday.
THE OPPOSITION
- Shiauna Nixon-Body led Alverno (2-15, 0-8 NACC) with 26 points. Gemini Ventura added 13 points and recorded three steals.
