MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team earned their fourth conference victory via a 76-63 win over Lakeland University on Saturday. Three Eagles scored in double-digits in the home victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (8-7, 4-2 NACC) returned to consistent form on both sides of the ball on Saturday afternoon, shooting 45.3 percent (29-for-64) from the floor and pulling down 50 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive side of the ball.
- The Eagles opened the contest with a 52.9 percent shooting (9-for-17) from the floor in the first quarter. In a fast-paced contest, the Eagles led 24-16 after the first 10 minutes.
- Five different Eagles scored in the second quarter. Lakeland University (7-8, 4-2 NACC) hung tough with the Eagles, scoring 14 points before halftime. The Eagles built upon a strong first quarter effort to lead by 12 points (42-30) at the break.
- Lakeland opened the third quarter on a 17-3 run that was only interrupted by a three-point make from Vivian Guerrero. The Muskies hot shooting third quarter gave them a two-point lead (47-45) over the Eagles with 3:35 remaining in the quarter. Edgewood College managed to score six points to end the quarter with a 51-49 advantage going into the final quarter of play.
- Edgewood College bounced back from single-digit scoring in the third quarter to score a game-best 25 points in the final 10 minutes. An early three-point make from Kenzie Senffner to open the quarter coupled with consistent scoring from Kallie Norby and Vivian Guerrero lifted the Eagles into double-digits over the Muskies.
- The Eagles shared the ball well on Saturday, dishing out 20 assists. Jayden Nortier led the way for the Eagles with five assists, while Ava Berg and Jordan Carlquist each added four.
- 10 different Eagles contributed to the rebounding effort on Saturday. Vivian Guerrero pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds, while Norby, Berg, and Senffner each collected seven rebounds.
- Norby posted a season-best 23 points, scoring 15 in the opening quarter. Norby went 10-for-14 from the floor on Saturday.
- Vivian Guerrero added 21 points, making eight from the floor and collecting four points from the charity stripe. The senior added four blocks in the victory.
- Jordan Carlquist continued to be a consistent force for Edgewood College on Saturday, scoring 14 points. The graduate student added three steals in the victory.
THE OPPOSITION
- A.T. Bartlett led the Muskies with 19 points. Bartlett dished out three assists.
- Halle Boldt posted 10 points, pulled down seven rebounds, and added three assists on Saturday.
- Lauryn Johnson collected four steals for Lakeland.
