RICHMOND, Ind. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team continued their strong showing on the road in 2024, earning a 1-0 victory over Earlham College on Saturday afternoon. A penalty kick goal from Grace Johnson late in the first half was the only goal of the afternoon in the non-conference battle.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With just four minutes remaining in the first half Grace Johnson found the back of the net for the first time in 2024 via penalty kick to give Edgewood College (2-0-1) a 1-0 lead. The Eagles dominated in shots, leading Earlham College (0-2-0) 7-1 in the first half of action.
- Edgewood College put another seven shots together in the second half, but none were able to sneak past the Quakers goalkeeper Makayla Hurey who made eight saves in the contest.
- Greta Blau led the Eagles shots with four, two on goal. Johnson and Rylee Brotz each took three shots for Edgewood Colllege on the afternoon.
- Emma Swenson earned the third start of her career in goal for the Eagles.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 1-0 final is the first meeting all-time between the Eagles and Quakers.
