Box Score WAUKESHA, WIS. – Men's tennis battled in a non-conference tilt Saturday afternoon. They took on the Carroll Pios in their season opener. The Eagles (1-0) impressed, taking five of six singles matches to earn a 5-2 victory over the Pios (0-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carroll struck first in doubles.
Andrew Hoffmann and
Justin Hutchcroft fell by a 6-4 margin in top billing.
Ethan Towne and
Taite Thomas dropped a 7-6 (7-4) heartbreaker to concede the doubles point to the hosts.

Jon Olafsson and
Marek Woytasik kicked off their afternoon with a 6-3 victory in second doubles.
- Hutchcroft continued to roll in his first match as an Eagle, winning no. 2 singles 6-2, 6-2. Thomas rebounded in no. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
- Olafsson made it 3-1 Edgewood College with a 6-4, 6-3 showing in top singles, while Hoffmann clinched the victory with a 7-5, 6-3 tally.
- Woytasik battled to a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory in the fourth slot.
- Towne fell in a marathon of a match, dropping no. 6 singles in 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (11-9) fashion.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The meeting was the first between the two programs since the 2013 season.
- The victory was the first for the Eagles against the Pios in program history.
