Offense comes alive in victory at Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. – Offense came alive for the Edgewood College men's soccer team on Friday evening as they traveled to Lawrence University. The Eagles downed the Vikings 10-2 in the highest scoring game in program history since 2006. Eight different players scored in the victory that saw participation from 28 Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miguel Konde Gwo got Edgewood College (2-1-1) on the board with a goal in the 15th minute, assisted by Brooks Luttinen. It didn't take long for the Eagles to take a 2-0 lead, as Conor Bruce scored, assisted by Aldon Lumani in the 21st minute.

- Lawrence University (0-2-1) quickly responded with back-to-back goals in the 29th and 32nd minutes to tie the game a two apiece.

- The Eagles took back control, with goals from Connor Gage and Brian Vazquez Trejo to close out the first half with a 4-2 lead.

-  Edgewood College turned on the jets in the second half, scoring six more goals on a whopping 21 shots.

- Jack Knight, Cristian Torres-Gale, Noah Hook, and Connor Thompson got involved in the scoring in the second half of action. Four of the Eagles six goals in the second half were assisted.

- It was a breakout game for Torres-Gale, as he led the Eagles with two goals and one assist. He took five shots, four of them landed on target.

- On the evening, the Eagles outshot the Vikings 32-5, with 20 shots on goal.

- Maverick Van Laanen made the start in goal for the Eagles, making one save through 54 minutes in net. Griffin Meisterheim saw his first action as an Eagle, finishing out the contest in goal.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- 10 goals go down as the most scored by an Eagle men's soccer team since 2006, when the Eagles defeated Rockford University 15-0. The goals total ties for third most in single-game history.

- The Eagles have now tied their start from the 2023 season a 2-1-1 through four contests. In comparison, Edgewood College have scored 16 goals through four games, compared to just seven in 2023 after four contests.

- Edgewood College will return home to host UW-Stout on Sunday. Action is set for 4:00 p.m. from Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park.
