STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team travelled to face UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday evening, in just the Pointers second contest in program history. The Eagles and Pointers played to a 1-1 draw in non-conference action. Brandon Kaup scored early for the Eagles, but a late goal from the host would equal scoring.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (1-1-1) got on the scoreboard early, as Kaup netted his first goal in an Eagle uniform in the 19th minute. Kaup's goal was assisted by Connor Gage.
- The Eagles led UW-Stevens Point (0-0-2) in shots 11-6 over the first half of action but only put one additional shot on goal just before halftime.
- Edgewood College continued to put on pressure, taking 15 shots in the second half, three on goal.
- With just under six minutes remaining, Cameron Jochimsen found the back of the net, assisted by Riley Nycz to even the game at one a piece.
- On the evening, Miguel Konde Gwo and Kaup led the Eagles attack with five shots each.
- Maverick Van Laanen collected three saves in the draw.
