VERONA, Wis. – On Sunday afternoon the Edgewood College women's soccer offense exploded for nine goals and defeated Mount Mary University 9-0. Eight different Eagles scored in the non-conference battle, as two players scored their first goal in an Edgewood College uniform.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Edgewood College (5-0-1) attack continues to prove they know how to finish, as they earned their fifth-straight win to remain undefeated on the season. The Eagles impressed in the first half, as the offense scored eight times and shut down the Blue Angels attack.
- Rylee Brotz was responsible for the first goal. The junior netted her second goal of the season just 2:34 into the contest, assisted by Kamy Luecke.
- Megan Hines joined Brotz on the board, scoring just 31 seconds later. Her goal, assisted by Emma Miller gave the Eagles a 2-0 advantage.
- Luecke was the third Eagle of the afternoon to score. Riley Haertle assisted on Luecke's goal in the eighth minute.
- Miller, Luecke, and Kalscheuer scored in the span of five minutes, to give the Eagles a convincing 6-0 lead.
- Hailey Corcoran, who typically serves as one of the Eagles goalkeepers, found her place as a forward on Saturday. Corcoran scored in the 40th minute, the second of her career.
- Julia Addeo scored the first goal of her career just before halftime.
- Balene Kroeger scored the Eagles lone goal of the second half in the 73rd minute. The goal was the first of Kroeger's career.
- The Eagles collected an impressive seven assists on Sunday.
- The Edgewood College defense did not allow a shot by the Mount Mary (1-4-0)
- The Eagles controlled the ball a whopping 76 percent of the contest.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles now lead the all-time series vs Mount Mary 9-0. The two teams last met in 2023 and recorded the same 9-0 final.
- Edgewood College continues their best start to a season since 2001. The 2001 version of the Eagles women's soccer team opened their season with an identical record of 5-0-1.
