MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Edgewood College women's soccer team continued in their winning ways on Friday. The Eagles defeated the Rams of Cornell College 4-2 in non-conference action. Three different Eagles scored in the affair.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cornell College (1-3-0) scored first on Friday, as Gwen Westervelt scored in the sixth minute to give the Rams an early 1-0 lead.
- Edgewood College (4-0-1) quickly responded, as Rylee Brotz scored her first goal of the season in the eighth minute to tie the game a one apiece.
- An own goal by the Rams in the 23rd minute gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead, before a goal from Anika Preusker 40:27 gave the Eagles a commanding 3-1 lead going into halftime.
- Greta Blau found the back of the net in the 66th minute to solidify the victory for the Eagles.
- Brotz assisted on two the Eagles goals on Friday.
- Emma Swenson and Hailey Corcoran split time in goal for Edgewood College.
- Krystin Kamrath made an impressive nine saves for the Rams.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College is now 4-0 all-time versus Cornell College. The Eagles and Rams last met back in 2022.
