Eagles split NACC Twinbill vs MSOE

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College softball team split with MSOE in conference play on Sunday. Edgewood College fell in the six-inning opener 11-3, before bouncing back for a 7-3 win in game two.

EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 7, MSOE 3 (GAME TWO)
- Edgewood College () scored first in game two, taking a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Grace Ott got the ball rolling for the Eagles, scoring pinch runner Lauren Hillmann on a double. Gracie Halfman plated Olivia Hebert for the Eagles second run of the afternoon.

- The Eagles defense held MSOE scoreless through the first three innings. The Raiders plated a run in the fourth, but did most of their damage in the fifth. MSOE recorded a pair of singles, to take a 3-2 lead in the fifth frame.

- Edgewood College wasn't worried, they responded in the bottom of the frame with a four-run inning to take a confident 6-3 lead. Olivia Hebert got things going with a two-run home run to center field, returning the lead to the Eagles. A trio of singles from the Eagles loaded the bases, giving Jenna Sanchez the perfect opportunity. The senior plated two Eagles on a hard hit single to right field. The Eagles added their seventh and final run in the sixth inning thanks to a double steal.

- Hebert and Ott both recorded three hits in the nightcap victory. Malarski went 2-for-2 at the plate, scoring a run.

- Grace Pustina made the start in the circle, going 4.1 innings and striking out two batters. Grace Baugnet earned the win in relief, striking out one batter and only allowing two hits.

MSOE 11, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3 – 6 INNINGS (GAME ONE)
- MSOE was patient at the plate in game one, recording 16 hits in the opener and scoring two runs in the second, third, and fourth innings. The Raiders took an early 6-2 lead after four innings. The Eagles plated two runs in the third inning thanks to sacrifice fly's from Malarski and Hebert.

- Edgewood College struggled to plate runners in game one, stranding five runners on base.

- The Raiders tacked on five runs in the top of the sixth frame to take a commanding 11-2 lead. The Eagles responded with a home run off the bat of Gracie Halfman in the bottom of the frame, but it wasn't enough to fend off the run rule.

- Halfman and Natalie Fields both recorded two hits and scored a run for Edgeowod College.

- Katie Pollock earned the win in the circle for the Raiders. She struck out four batters in six innings of work. Tatum Duff made the start for the Eagles, striking out two batters through 5.1 innings.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will travel to Concordia Wisconsin on Wednesday. Doubleheader action is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. from Mequon, Wis.
