MADISON – The men's tennis squad concluded their nonconference slate Saturday morning at Quann Park. They hosted an in-state foe in the UW-Stevens Point Pointers. The Pointers (3-13) defeated the Eagles (1-12) in 9-0 fashion.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Stevens Point set the tone in doubles.
William Faley and
Alton Robinson dropped an 8-0 match, while
Marek Woytasik and
Jon Olafsson fell by an 8-1 margin.
Caden Nelson and
Andrew Hoffmann hung tough in top billing, losing 8-3.
- Olafsson fell just shy in a thriller in second singles. He fell 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) in an exciting matchup.
- Woytasik lost in 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) fashion in fourth billing.
- Nelson dropped a 6-2, 6-2 final in no. 1 singles, while his doubles partner Hoffmann was defeated by an identical 6-2, 6-2 margin in the third slot.
- Robinson was downed 6-0, 6-1 in fifth billing.
Ethan Towne wrapped up the day with a 6-2, 6-3 final in sixth billing.
UP NEXT
Edgewood College will wrap up their stretch of three matches in three days Sunday. They will host a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) bout with the Lakeland Muskies. First serve is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the Powless Tennis Center tomorrow.
