Eagles sweep Muskies, Sagan breaks career runs record

PLYMOUTH, WIS. – The baseball squad had a record-setting day as they returned to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action. They faced off with the Lakeland Muskies in a doubleheader. The Eagles (17-15, 11-7 NACC) claimed a sweep with 6-2 and 13-1 (7 inn.) victories over the Muskies (6-25, 1-17) while Kyle Sagan claimed the career runs mark in game two.

GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 6, LAKELAND 2
- An error with two outs by the Muskies in the first would prove to be costly to the hosts. Xavier Schreiber singled in a run through the right side to put the Eagles on the board, while a Connor Goodwin double up the middle made it 3-0 Edgewood College after one.

- The third inning put Lakeland on the board. A sacrifice fly to center field and a single up the middle left things 3-2 Eagles after three.

- Schreiber continued his strong opening game with an RBI single up the middle to kick off a three-run fifth. Goodwin added on a run with a sacrifice fly to left field, before Carson Richter wrapped up the scoring with a single to center field to plate a run.

- Schreiber hit 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a double. Brooks Kalscheur and Brevin Brisack each hit 2-for-4 with a run.

- Ryan Ambrosy recorded a 2-for-3 line at the plate.

GAME TWO: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 13, LAKELAND 1 (SEVEN INNINGS)
- Sagan kicked off game two with fireworks, a home run to left center in the first plating a pair of runs. A single to center field by the Muskies left things at 2-1 after three innings.

- A dropped fly ball tallied a run for the Eagles in the fourth. Schreiber continued his strong day in the fifth with a two-run shot over the fence in left center for a 5-1 lead.

- An eight-run seventh put things well out of Lakeland's reach. A Sagan single up the middle started the rally. After a pair of runs scored with help from an error by the shortstop, a Goodwin double to left center tallied a pair. Another error would bring in a run, before a single through the right side by Kyle Prindle added on another. Sagan added on another run with a single to left field for a 13-1 advantage.
