Blue Jays down Eagles in nonconference action

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Edgewood College Eagles hit the road for non-conference action Monday night. They faced off with the Elmhurst Blue Jays down south. The Blue Jay (8-24) got the better of the Eagles (15-15) as they pitching controlled the game in a 7-3 victory.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College did their damage in the first. A two-run home run from Jacob Carney to left field put them on the board, before an error brought home Kyle Sagan for a 3-0 edge.
 
- A pair of home runs flipped the script in favor of Elmhurst in the bottom of the first. A two-run homer to left field and a three-run home run to left field gave the Blue Jays a 5-3 lead after one.
 
- A double down the left field line in the third and a passed ball in the eighth added on a pair of insurance runs for Elmhurst as they secured the victory.
 
- Caden Hough threw five strikeouts and Kody Kleve six for the Eagles..

- Carney hit 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and two RBIs.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kleve's six strikeouts were a career high for the pitcher with Edgewood College.

UP NEXT
The Eagles will hit the road for Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action Wednesday. They will take on the Lakeland Muskies in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for noon in Plymouth, Wis.
