LISLE, Ill. – The Edgewood College softball team was swept in a NACC twinbill at Benedictine on Saturday. Benedictine took game one 6-2, followed by a 3-2 final in eight innings in the night cap. The Benedictine pitching combined for 17 strikeouts in the doubleheader.
BENEDICTINE 6, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 2 (GAME ONE)
- Benedictine (16-10, 8-6 NACC) did all their scoring in the third and fourth innings. The fellow Eagles posted two runs in the bottom of the third via a double and tacked on four more runs in the fourth for a 6-0 advantage.
- Edgewood College (16-14, 7-7 NACC) scored in the fifth frame, as Lauren Hillmann came across for the first run due to a wild pitch. Camden Shepherd came across to score in the following at-bat on a sacrifice bunt from Kya Loffswold.
- Alyse Maurer went 3-for-3 in the game one loss with a double.
- Morgan Bruno, Haley Barnes, and Mia Giammarese each collected two hits. Barnes added a two-run home run in the fourth inning for Benedictine
- Tatum Duff and Elizabeth Malarski combined for six innings in the circle for Edgewood College. The two scattered eight hits in game one.
- Bella Lodico earned the complete game win for Benedictine.
BENEDICTINE 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 2 (GAME TWO)
- Edgewood College scored first in the nightcap. An RBI single off the bat of Olivia Hebert scored Natalie Fields in the fifth inning for a 1-0 lead. Benedictine tied the game at one a piece in the sixth inning.
- Edgewood College would regain the lead in the seventh due to a sacrifice fly off the bat of Kyla Loffswold.
- Benedictine quickly responded to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. A single to right center earned Benedictine a walk-off win in the eighth inning.
- Natalie Fields recorded two hits and scored a run for Edgewood College in the nightcap.
- Grace Pustina recorded 5.1 innings in the circle for Edgewood College, striking out two batters and scattering four hits.
- Giammarese went the distance for Benedictine, striking out six batters.

- Edgewood College will host Marian University on Sunday. Doubleheader action is set for 12:00 p.m. at Ceniti Park in Verona.
