MADISON – The women's tennis squad had a landmark day at Quann Park Saturday. They faced off with the Carroll Pios and Loras Duhawks in nonconference action. The Eagles (14-6) won a nailbiter over the Pios (7-11), before posting an impressive 8-1 victory over the Duhawks (12-8).
MATCH ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 5, CARROLL 4

Cecile Fuchs and
Evelyn Taylor earned a 8-5 victory in top doubles billing for the hosts.
- The Pios edged out
Maddy Coopmans and
Jewel Lindwall 8-6 in no. 2 doubles, before
Madelyn Connaughty and
Ellie Murphy dropped an 8-4 match in the third slot.
- With Carroll holding a 2-1 advantage in the match, the Eagles got to work in singles. Fuchs set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0 victory as the top singles player.
- Lindwall earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory in second singles, while Taylor won 6-4, 6-1 in third billing.
- Murphy clinched the match 6-2, 6-2 in the fourth slot.

Maddy Coopmans and
Christina Ekkela were locked in intense affairs in the final two singles matches. Coopmans fell 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7), then Ekkela dropped a 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) match.
MATCH TWO: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 8, LORAS 1
- Fuchs and Taylor continued to shine, earning an 8-3 victory in the first doubles slot. Murphy and Connaughty tacked on an 8-5 win in no. 3 doubles.
- Lindwall and Coopmans fought to the bitter end in an 8-7 (7-5) loss in no. 2 doubles.
- The Eagles carried their momentum through singles. Fuchs claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory and Lindwall a 6-2, 6-3 win to kick things off.
- Taylor clinched the match in the third singles slot 6-4, 6-2.
- Murphy continued the strong play from Edgewood College with a 6-4, 6-2 victory in fourth billing.

Cassie Henderson 6-4, 6-2 to round out a strong showing for the Eagles.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Fuchs eclipsed 100 victories in her career as an Eagle today. She is the 10th Edgewood College player to do so and is tied with Jaclyn Swift for all-time wins in eighth.
UP NEXT
The Eagles wrapped up their nonconference tune ups for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament with the wins. They will wait and see who they will host on Thursday, May 2 at home.
