FRANKLIN, WIS. – The Edgewood College Eagles baseball squad opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play in a big way Wednesday. They hit the road to face the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors in a doubleheader. The Eagles (8-6, 2-0 NACC) soared above the Warriors (4-13, 0-4 NACC), winning game one 19-9 and game two 18-8.
GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 19, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 9
- The Eagles set the tone for the day with eight runs in the first inning.
Connor Goodwin kicked off the scoring with a two-run double down the right field line, while
Carson Richter doubled in a run to left field.
Brooks Kalscheur would add on a two-RBI double of his own.
Kyle Sagan and
Kyle Prindle each hit a ground-rule double to finish out the scoring in the top half of the inning.
- After the Warriors scored a pair in the bottom of the first, Edgewood College poured it on in the third. Prindle singled through the left side of one RBI, while
Dominic Lee made his presence felt with another RBI single. Richter recorded his second double of the day to send a run in. Pitching mistakes by Wisconsin Lutheran would add on three more runs as the Eagles would lead 14-5 after three.
- After one run in the fourth, Edgewood College tacked on more insurance runs in the fifth.
Xavier Schreiber doubled to right center for a pair. Prindle singled in a run with a hit to right field while
Terry Tolliver Jr. recorded a double to center field to wrap up the scoring in the first game.
- Prindle hit 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs. Sagan was the other Eagle with three RBIs with a 3-for-4 performance.
- Five other Eagles earned two RBIs. Sagan and Tolliver led the team with two steals each.

Ryan Mixey earned the victory, tossing four strikeouts in a complete game.
- Noah Zaccanti hit 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs for the Warriors.
GAME TWO: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 18, WISCONSIN LUTHRAN 8 (7 INNINGS)
- A sacrifice fly to center field by Brisack kicked off the scoring in game two. A two-run home run to right center would give the lead to the Warriors after one inning, but Lee struck back with a two-run shot to right field in the second. Tolliver added on an RBI single to right field, but a wild pitch would leave things at 4-3 Eagles after two.
- A nine-run third broke the game wide open for Edgewood College. Sagan singled to left field to bring in two runs, while Prindle singled to right field for another two on the board. Tolliver hit a two-RBI triple to right center before a wild pitch brought him home. Lee would strike again, this thing with a two-RBI single to center field for a 13-3 lead after three.
- Both teams would score two runs in the fifth.
Colby Davis grounded out to the shortstop to plate
Brevin Brisack, while
Hayden Hellenbrand singled to left field to bring home Bentivegna for the Eagles.
- Edgewood College would tack on three more in the final two innings. A fielder's choice from
Daniel Bentivegna tallied one in the sixth. Tolliver would bat in a run in the seventh, while a sacrifice fly to left field from
Ryan Harris wrapped up the scoring for the Eagles.
- While Wisconsin Lutheran would score three in the bottom of the seventh, it would not be enough to avoid a run rule victory for Edgewood College to wrap up the sweep.
- Prindle, Tolliver, and Lee each earned four hits as the Eagles tallied 22 hits as a team. 11 different Edgewood College batters recorded hits.
- Tolliver and Lee had four RBIs apiece.

Justin Grosse earned the start and victory for the Eagles in game two. He struck out four Warriors.
- Ian Rintelman hit well in defeat. He was 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 10 doubles in game one were the most by Edgewood College in any game in nearly 20 years. The total matched the program record, set against Marnatha Baptist on April 2, 2004.
- The Eagles are 50-30 against the Warriors all-time and have won six in a row in the series.
- Prindle leads the NACC in on-base percentage (0.614) and is fifth in batting average (.422). He is also second with 21 walks.
- As a team, Edgewood College leads the NACC with 39 stolen bases.

The Eagles will play their second NACC doubleheader in as many days tomorrow. They will travel to Beloit, Wis. to face off with the Rockford Regents. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in a series even at 22 wins apiece.
