ORLANDO, FLA. – The Edgewood College Eagles men's tennis squad kicked off their Spring Break Sunday evening. They battled with the College of St. Scholastica Saints in a non-conference tilt. The Saints (6-6) used a strong doubles performance to set the tone on an 8-1 victory over the Eagles (1-5).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Scholastica earned three 8-0 victories in doubles.
Caden Nelson and
Andrew Hoffmann battled in top doubles,
Jon Olafsson and
Marek Woytasik in second billing, and
Ethan Towne and
William Faley in no. 3 doubles.
- Olafsson proved to be the highlight of the day for Edgewood College. After dropping the first set 4-6, he rallied to win second singles with a 7-6 (7-4) second set and a 1-0 (10-8) tiebreaker.
- Nelson fell 6-1, 6-0 in top billing while Hoffmann dropped 6-2, 6-2 sets as the third singles player.
- Woytasik battled in a 6-2, 6-3 loss in fourth singles. Towne and Faley wrapped up the evening with 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-3 losses respectively.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will look to bounce back tomorrow morning with more Spring Break action. They will take on the Roger William Hawks in Orlando, Fla. with first serve scheduled for 11:30 a.m. EST. This will be the first time the two programs will meet.
